Dr. Govaerts stated he would follow Dr. Weakley's treatment.
See his response to my email to him below:
"Stylisma angustifolia is listed as a subspecies of Stylisma patens where Weakley's treatment here has it as a separate species. I understand that it is currently a synonym in POWO but treated as a subspecies This is also found in IPNI as well as WFO."

I have only been through the latest 375 observations thus far. But so far, those can remain as Stylisma patens.

While iNat follows POWO, I’m not sure if any consideration is given to regional plant geneticists or systematists.
Here is Weakley’s Flora which lists S. patens ssp angustifolia as a a separate species taxon - S. angustifolia
