The literature is pretty confusing, with both old and recent publications treating Rhipidia at times as a genus and at other times as a subgenus within Limonia. I've been unable to find an original publication that designated Rhipidia as a separate genus, but there are some indications that it was Oosterbroek, 2016 (Catalogue of the Craneflies of the World), which I have been unable to access.
While BugGuide and other sources list Rhipidia as a subgenus nested under Limonia, it seems most recent publications (e.g. Podenas et al., 2016) treat Rhipidia as its own genus with Limonia counterparts listed as outdated synonyms.
As a result, I believe that species formerly included in the subgenus Rhipidia should be moved to the genus Rhipidia, but I wanted to create a flag for discussion or clarification first.
Several species are duplicated with taxon pages under both Rhipidia and Limonia (e.g. Rhipidia domestica|Limonia domestica; R. atomaria|L. atomaria; R. fidelis|L. fidelis)
