Bleating Froglet

Crinia pseudinsignifera

Summary 2

The Bleating Froglet (Crinia pseudinsignifera) is a species of frog in the Myobatrachidae family. It is endemic to southwest Western Australia. It is sometimes called the Granite Froglet or False Western Froglet in reference to the Western Froglet Crinia insignifera which has a more westerly range. This froglet is very difficult to tell apart from Crinia subinsignifera but besides different calls the eyes and belly can help to differentiate. Found in association with granite, especially around the base of outcrops where run-off water collects. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, rivers, intermittent rivers, shrub-dominated wetlands, swamps and freshwater lakes or springs.
