South Coast Froglet

Crinia subinsignifera

Summary 3

The South Coast Froglet (Crinia subinsignifera) is sometimes called the Small Western Froglet and is a species of frog in the family Myobatrachidae. A small, long limbed frog, it is endemic to the south coast of southwest Western Australia. It is very difficult to tell apart from the more common Crinia psuedinsignifera but other than its different call the belly, eyes and toe fringing are differentiating features. Its range is along a narrow band across the northern edge of the karri belt, along the south coast to Bremer Bay, Fitzgerald National Park, Cape Le Grand and Cape Arid. Its natural habitats are permanent or seasonally inundated Melaleuca swamps. It is threatened by habitat loss.
