Shape: Tree
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Opposite
Flower: Red rounded cluster
Leaves: palmately lobed, 3-5 lobes, up to 5½ inches long and wide, toothed edges,
Bark: smooth, grey, becoming darker and furrowed with age
Fruit/Seed: pair of winged seeds, 2/3-1 inch long, wings at a 45-90 degree angle
Height: 50-95 feet
Flowering: April - May
Habitat: along shores, hardwood swamps
