• Shape: Tree
• Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Opposite
• Flower: Red rounded cluster
• Leaves: palmately lobed, 3-5 lobes, up to 5½ inches long and wide, toothed edges,
• Bark: smooth, grey, becoming darker and furrowed with age
• Fruit/Seed: pair of winged seeds, 2/3-1 inch long, wings at a 45-90 degree angle
• Height: 50-95 feet
• Flowering: April - May
• Habitat: along shores, hardwood swamps
