Description ²

• Shape: Understory tree
• Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
• Flower: White rounded cluster
• Leaves: oval with pointed tip, 2-4 ½ inches long, 1 ¼-2 ½ inches wide, 5-6 prominent veins per side that never reach leaf’s edge
• Bark: green/brown-maroon, waxy, diamond shaped lenticels
• Fruit/Seed: round, dark blue, berry, ¼ inch diameter, on red stalk
• Height: 12-25 feet
• Flowering: May - June
• Habitat: deciduous and mixed forest understory, floodplains, thickets
