Shape: Understory tree
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Alternate
Flower: White rounded cluster
Leaves: oval with pointed tip, 2-4 ½ inches long, 1 ¼-2 ½ inches wide, 5-6 prominent veins per side that never reach leaf’s edge
Bark: green/brown-maroon, waxy, diamond shaped lenticels
Fruit/Seed: round, dark blue, berry, ¼ inch diameter, on red stalk
Height: 12-25 feet
Flowering: May - June
Habitat: deciduous and mixed forest understory, floodplains, thickets
