Shape: Multi-stemmed shrub
Leaf/Branch Arrangement: Opposite
Flower: White rounded cluster
Leaves: pinnately compound, 5 or 7 leaflets, leaflets narrowly pointed ovals that are 2-5 inches long and 1-2 inches wide, finely serrated
Bark: brown/gray, shallow fissures, becoming rough with thin, plate-like scales
Fruit/Seed: clusters of bright red berries, ¼ inch diameter
Height: 3-14 feet
Flowering: April - June
Habitat: woodlands, deciduous or mixed forest, along shores, wetland edges
