Green Toad

Bufotes viridis

Identification 4

Although the name suggests a colour disparity between this and other toads, it is not what you might think. The green toad is characterised by spots of green-brown colour surrounded by white background creating a web of white or green lines between the dark islands, which sometimes less visible are always noticeable on legs.

Ecology & Behaviour 4

The toad likes warmth and so it tends to clear of mountain ranges and high altitudes. Other than that, it thrives in exposed temporal/permanent pools with or without vegetation. It's somewhat hard to find given the fast metamorphosis the larvae undergo in warm environments.
