Disa ferruginea is a stout, reed-like terrestrial 200-450mm tall. Radical leaves linear, developing after flowering;cauline leaves dry, sheathing. Inflorescence dense, 1-40 flowered. Flowers bright red to orange, often with some parts yellow.
