Eutrochium maculatum (spotted joe-pyeweed) is a North American species of flowering plants in the sunflower family. It is widespread through much of the United States and Canada. It is the only species of the genus found west of the Great Plains.

Leaves:
3-5 lance-shaped toothed leaves (3 to 9 inches long), whorled around the often spotted stem

Flower:
Large clusters (5 to 10 inches) of many pink flowers, which appear fuzzy

Bloom time:
July-September

Purple Boneset, Spotted Trumpetweed, Queen of the Meadow, Thoroughwort

Habitat:
Wet meadows, marshes, ditches, and moist pastures

Wildlife Benefits:
Very attractive to butterflies. Provides cover for amphibians, reptiles, and small mammals.

Prefers full sun and moist mineral or peaty soils. It is suitable for use in rain gardens and lakeshore plantings.
