Hello! I am Erynnis funeralis, the Funereal Duskywing. There is not a lot of information on me at the moment, but check back in the future!
Common name: Funereal Duskywing
Scientific name:Erynnis funeralis (Scudder & Burgess 1870)
Family: Hesperiidae - Pyrginae
Characteristics:
Host plant: Reported hosts include New Mexican locust (Robinia neomexicana), bur clover (Medicago hispida), deerweed (Lotus scoparius), desert ironwood (Olneya tesota), and vetch (Vicia species)
Nectar plant: No specified flower species
Distribution: Southern California to Argentina
Flight times: Most likely to be found in March; has multiple broods from March - December. See seasonality: https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/59188-Erynnis-funeralis
Currently, there is only one observation of the Funereal Duskywing on campus; this observation was on a lantana flower. These butterflies do not, however, have a preferred nectar plant, so it is possible that this butterfly occurs around other areas on campus, but more data needs to be gathered to make a prediction.
