An introduced species from Europe. Not easily confused with any other species. Note U-shaped cream border on bottom edge of pronotum. A small proportion of the population is long-winged.

Occurrence ⁵

Probably still expanding its range. The SINA map is from 2003 and shows this species only in far eastern Iowa. But iNaturalist records show this species in about the eastern 2/3 of the state.

Grassy or vegetated areas.
