Neoconocephalus robustus

Identification 3

The cone is compact, rather than elongate, but with no black or a small black strip. Ovipositor is 25-31 mm (Blatchley 1920) and 1.0-1.1x the length of the hind femur (SINA). A large species at 54-77 mm total length (SINA). This species has very loud song.

Statewide. Occurs throughout the eastern U.S. Uncommon - Froeschner (1954) had access to two specimens.

Habitat 3

Tall rank vegetation such as Phragmites beds, corn fields, or other tall thick vegetation.
