Restless Bush Cricket

Hapithus agitator

Identification 3

In Iowa, the shape and color of this species, along with the stripes at the dorsolateral margin of the wings should be sufficient for identification. The dorsolateral stripes on the wings appear to be brighter in males and occur in most individuals.

Occurrence 3

SINA shows this species as occurring only in far southeast Iowa, with a single Iowa record from Lee County. An iNaturalist observation from the Des Moines area and a BugGuide record from Council Bluffs indicate it could be more common in the state or expanding its range.

Habitat 3

Vegetative undergrowth.
