Another Orchelimum species best identified by male cerci or by song. The inner spine/tooth on the cerci is longest of any Orchelimum.

Occurrence 4
Statewide. Knutson and Jaques (1935) listed this species. SINA has several records for this species in Iowa. SCAN shows two records from 1970. BugGuide has no records. iNaturalist currently has 2 records.
Habitat 4
Prairie or woodland. BugGuide says they often prefer cedar or juniper trees. I found one individual on forest floor vegetation in mature deciduous woodland. Capinera et al. (2004) says they occur primarily in deciduous woodland or woodland edges.
