Identification 3

Adults appear in the spring. Brownish or grayish with some large spots on wings. Hind femur is blue on the inner face. Hind tibiae are orange.

Occurrence 3

A southeastern U.S. species that reaches into southeastern Iowa. Knutson and Jaques (1935) and Knutson (1937) did not list this species, but it has been documented in Iowa since then. SCAN shows a single record from 1936 from Warren County, just south of Des Moines. Insects of Iowa has a record in Louisa County. BugGuide has a record from Muscatine County. iNaturalist has no records yet.

Habitat 3

Grassy, sunny open areas, with trees nearby, usually in uplands.
