Native to only the rio grande river basin. Like most cutthroat they used to be abundant in lower elevations and larger rivers but nowadays have been more restricted but not limited too only alpine lakes and headwater streams. Colorados 2nd most common cutthroat occupying alpine lakes and streams in southern mountains of Colorado. Very similar in looks to Colorado river cutthroat. Can grow up to 20+ inches in the right conditions.
