Pycnanthemum pilosum, commonly known as hairy mountain mint, is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the mint family. Like most plants in the genus, the foliage has a strong mint fragrance when crushed or disturbed.

Mint family (Lamiaceae)

Height:
2 to 4 feet

Leaves:
Pairs of opposite leaves occur along the stems, becoming gradually smaller and more slender as they ascend. Leaves are up to 1-3" long and are toothless

Flower:
Each flower is about ¼ inch long. Flowers are white and grow into a bulb shape

Bloom time:
July-September

Habitat:
Wooded meadows, upland forests, savannas

Wildlife Benefits:
Nectar is attractive to many species of bees, wasps, flies, beetles, and butterflies
