Description (original) 3

Capite in processum longum, subteretem, thorace aeque longum, apice oblique truncatum antrorsum producto, supra ca- rinis obsoletissimis et nigro-punctatis, antrorsum ad ramulum unum breve conjunctis, instructo; corpore dilute griseo-fusco, dense nigro-punctato, punctis nigris majoribus diseminatis ornato; fronte nigropunctata, ad apicem ochracea, impunctata, carinis lon- gitudinalibus convergentibus, obsoletis instructa; clypeo dense nigro-punctato; pronoto scutelloque dense nigro-punctatis; tegmi- nibus dense nigro-conspersis, punctis majoribus diseminatis; vena longitudinali media punctis callosis nitidis 4-5 et vena longitud. interna punctis 2 ornatis; alis obscure fuscis; maculis lateralibus ventris ochraceis et nigro punctatis: pedibus nigromaculatis,

Long. corp. cum tegmin. 31 mm, exp. tegm. 46 mm. Patria: Africa orientalis, montes Usambarae, dominus ce- leberr. Karasek legit,

Z. tenebrosae F. et Z. flammeae L. maxime affinis, processu capitis breviore, maculis basalibus verticis maculisque angulorum basalium scutelli laevigatis absentibus, punctis callosis nitidis ad venas tegminum divergit. Z. pustulatae Gerst, simillimus, sed nodulis tegminum rarioribus differt.

Druhy do rodu toho patřící obývají hlavně území africké a indo-malajské.

Description (translated) 3

Head in a long process, subterete, thorax equally long, apex obliquely truncated in front produced, furnished above with very obsolete and black-dotted carinae, joined in front to one short branch; the body is light gray-brown, densely black-dotted, ornamented with scattered larger black dots; black punctate on the forehead, ochreous at the apex, punctate, furnished with longitudinal carinae converging, obsolete; shield densely black-dotted; pronotum and scutellum densely black-dotted; coverts densely sprinkled with black, scattered with larger dots; the middle longitudinal vein with 4-5 shiny callous points and the longitudinal vein. inner decorated with 2 points; wings dark brown; the lateral spots of the belly are ochreous and dotted with black: the feet are black-spotted,

Long. corp. with roof 31 mm, ex. roof 46 mm. Country: East Africa, the mountains of Usambara, a famous owner. Karasek reads,

Z. tenebrosae F. and Z. flammea L. are closely related, the process of the head is shorter, the basal spots of the vertex and the spots of the basal angles of the scutellum are absent, and it diverges with shiny callous points on the veins of the scutellum. Z. pustulatae Gerst, very similar, but differs in rare nodules of the coverings.

This cicada is mainly characterized by its strikingly conical elongated head, the end of which is cut off at an angle, so that when viewed from the side, the elongated head of a pig's burrow resembles Rod Zanna Kirk. (Pyrops Spin.) contains many species, which are characterized by different sizes of elongated heads and body colors. The species belonging to this genus mainly inhabit the territory of Africa and Indo-Malaysian. The African species Z. tenebrosa F., madagascariensis Lign., and flammea L. differ from the species Z. albipennis Spin. mainly because the hindwings are dark brown, whereas Z. albipennis has white hindwings. This new species, found by Mr. Karásek in the German settlement of East Africa in the mountains of Usambara, also belongs to the first group. However, it differs from the named species mainly in that the elongated head is as long as the shield and labellum combined, whereas the head is much longer in the other species. On the back of the head, two weak keels can be seen, which are connected in front, hernia has 5 to 6 black dots. Smooth a head and chest from above, b head shiny spots on the top of the head and on on each labellum they are completely absent in this species. However, the main distinguishing feature of this species are the shiny, smooth bumps on the middle and inner veins of the forewings. These bumps are far from each other and mainly appear in those places where the veins connect. These bumps are also found in the species Z. pustulata Gerst. and they are so striking that, according to them, both species can recognize Ize. However, in the new species, these bumps are much rarer than in the latter species. Z. clavaticeps Karsch (turritus Gerst.), which is quite widespread in tropical Africa, is distinguished from all others by the fact that the extension of the head is spherically swollen at the end.
