Der Scheitel, die Seiten des Kopfes, der Hinterrand des Pronotums und des Brustlappens hlutrot. Clipens, Stirnfläche, mit Ausnahme des obersten Drittel, welches blutrot ist, Brust- lappen rotbraun. Gruben gelblich, Grubenwülste goldgelb. Angen und die Flecke hinter ihnen auf dem Pronotum schwarzbraun. Schildchen gelb nad rotbraun geleckt, Schildchenspitzenkiel schwarz. Basalteil der Deckflügel matt- grün mit helleren, gelblichen Flecken; Apicalteil dunkelbraun mit acht bis zehn hellbraunen Flecken. Basalfeld der Flügel blutrot; Apicalspitze und Hinterrand gelbbraun; Anallappent rauchig getrübt. Brust, Rostrum und Hüften gelbbraun: Beine rot; Rostrumspitze und Tarsen schwarzbraun. segmente rotbraun; Rückensegmente in der Mitte rot. die letzten Ringe zu den Seiten gelblich, Conexivum gelb. Scheide dunkelbraun; Scheidenpolster an der Wurzel blutrot und an den Spitzen braun; Anallappen blutrot. Länge 30 mm, Spannweite 58 min.)
Diese Art stelt der 4. sumptuosa sehr nahe und ist von ihr durch die Färbung des Kopfes und der Deckflügel ver- schieden. Sumptuosa Gerst, kenne ich nicht in natura, doch sagt Gerstaecker in der Beschreibung, daß der Kopf bräunlich olivengrün sein soll, während bei Sanguinea die Färbung blutrot ist. Aus den Maßen, welche Gerstaecker gibt, ist anzunehmen, daß ihm [male] and [female] vorlagen, sonst könnte man auf den Gedanken kommen, die hiesigen Stücke scien der Gerstaeckerschen Art.

This species is very similar to sumptuosa, and differs from it in the coloring of the head and elytra. Sumptuosa Gerst, I don't know in person, but Gerstaecker says in the description that the head should be brownish olive green, while sanguinea's color is blood red. From the measurements that Gerstaecker gives, it can be assumed that he had male and female, otherwise one could get the idea that the pieces here are of the Gerstaecker type.
