The silver redhorse(Moxostoma anisurum) usually live in the big lakes, larger rivers and impoundments. Forage along the bottom, eating aquatic insects hiding in the mud and sand. Will also eat clams and mussels, including smaller zebra mussels and quagga mussels.

How to recognize: Mouth is on the bottom of the head. Lips are thick and fleshy, covered with small bumps that are taste buds. All scales are relatively the same size along the length of the body. Relatively tall arched back when compared to other redhorses and suckers. Tail gray. Up to 2 feet /0.6 meters long.
