Banded killifish(Fundulus diaphanus) live in ponds, inland lakes, streams with little to no current, and the nearshore habitats of the big lakes. Usually found in the vicinity of vegetation, but not necessarily in the vegetation. Prefer clear water. Although burbot are in the topminnow family Fundulidae, they do not necessarily live as close to the surface as their near relatives.

How to recognize: Mouth directed upwards. About a dozen thin vertical bars along the side. Rounded tail. Tan. Up to 4 inches /10 centimeters long.
