Rock bass(Ambloplites rupestris) are generally found near logjams, submerged roots, undercut banks, or other cover. They live in nearshore areas of the big lakes, rivers and larger creeks with a slow to moderate current. Larger individuals can be considered a sport fish, although not too many anglers actually fish for them.

How to recognize: Roundish or “pan-shaped” body. Red eye. Many scales have a dark blotch, giving the appearance of multiple broken stripes. There are also some larger dark blotches. Up to 10 inches /25 centimeters long.
