Freshwater drums(Aplodinotus grunniens) live in larger rivers and big lakes. Second set of interior jaws in the throat that have sturdy crushing teeth used to smash favorite foods (clams, mussels, snails, etc.).

How to recognize: Silvery fish with a tall back. Rounded tail. Fin on the back divided into two parts by a notch; first part supported by rigid spines, second part supported by flexible rays. Large spine along the leading edge of the fin near the anus. Relatively large horizontal mouth. Up to 2 feet /0.6 meters long.
