California Towhees can be found in the California Native Plant Garden and in the scrubby areas around the edges of campus.

Habitat 3

California Towhees live in chaparral and other shrubby habitats. They can also be found in backyards and parks.

Life History 3

Nesting Females build the nests from twigs and grasses in a low fork of shrubs.
Feeding California Towhees eat seeds and invertebrates as well as berries including coffeeberry, poison oak and elderberries.

Distribution 4

California Towhees are found in the coastal regions of western Oregon and California in the United States and Baja California Sur in Mexico.

Migration 3

California Towhees are residents.
