Horse Mushroom

Agaricus arvensis

Summary 4

Horse mushrooms are commonly found in Iran, Britain, and North America. It is often found near meadows, and often forms fairy ring. The fungi's gils are white until it reaches the sporulation period. If the gils of this fungi are white, consumption is not advised, as there is very little recognizable difference between this and fungi from the Amanita genus. When foraging for these, on must be careful not to confuse them with the Agaricus xanthodermus fungi, which cause severe gastrointestinal distress. In order to prevent this mix up, look at the stalk where the it meets the mycelium. If this area is yellow, then DO NOT consume.
