Summary ¹

Menticirrhus americanus, the southern kingfish, southern kingcroaker, the king whiting or the Carolina whiting, is a species of marine fish in the family Sciaenidae. It lives in shallow coastal waters on the western fringes of the Atlantic Ocean.
