Plant descriptions ²

Stems striate, densely strigose, whitish, becoming woody. Leaves with 3 - 9 paired leaflets; petiole long and slender; leaflets elliptic to narrowly oblong elliptic, 5 - 15 x 3 - 9 mm, strigose and grey-green on both surfaces. Flowers c. 6 mm long; Calyx c.3 mm long; teeth narrow, subulate, longer than the tube. Pods deflexed, slender, linear-cylindrical, (7-) 20 - 40 mm long.

Similar species ²

I. trita var. subulata ressembles I. tenuipes, both having leaves with 3 grey-green leaflets and long petioles. I. tenuipes has much shorter racemes with fewer flowers and shorter, not constricted pods.
