The rock-pool mosquito is a large Aedes species that originates from Asia.
The thorax is decorated with golden stripes and has a fuzzy appearance up close. Visible are the dark and white striped legs that have larger white markings than Aedes vexans but may not appear to be as contrasty black-and-white as the widespread Aedes albopictus or Aedes aegypti.
