Tree up to 25 m tall, primary branches regularly distributed, mainly horizontal, sometimes with irregular protuberances on their upper surfaces. Leaves 6 - 9 foliolate, margin leaflet entire. Flowers produced when leaflets, with petals white, yellowing with age. Fruits ussually oblong, pericarp dense brown.
Phenology: flowering in May to early July, ripe fruit in November.

Ecology 3

Until recently the species was thought to be restricted to the northern tip of Madagascar around the Baie d'Antsiranana. A subpopulation has since been found further south in Mahory Forest between Ankarana and Analamera Reserves.
