Appearance 3

Shrub/small tree. Its stems have distinctive corky “wings” on them. Slow-growing in comparison to other invasive plants. Rounded, smooth-edged leaves with long tip that turn bright red in autumn.

Introduction 3

Brought over from northeastern Asia during the 1800s. Planted as an ornamental plant and for animal habitat.
