Long, light brown, segmented stalks with bluish-green leaves at each segment. Clumps of seeds grow at the top of the stem.

Unknown, but suspected to be from ship ballast water

Similar Native Species 2

A native subspecies of Common Reed (phragmites australis americanus), which has bright red stems and brighter green leaves.

Impacts on Ecosystem 2

Outcompetes other wetland plants.
