The Pepper-and-salt Skipper (Amblyscirtes hegon) is a butterfly of the Hesperiidae family. It is found from Nova Scotia and Maine, west to southern Manitoba, south to Georgia, northern Florida and south-eastern Texas. It is mostly absent from the coastal plain.

Amblyscirtes hegon is resident in the eastern United States, with a separate population in northern Florida (Scott 1986). Habitats are mostly upper Austral to lower Canadian zone forest clearings and woods margins. Host plants are restricted to several species of grasses. Individuals overwinter as early instar larvae. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time June 1-June 30 in the northern part of their range, April 15 - May 15 in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).
