The Juniper Hairstreak (Callophrysgryneus) is a butterfly native to North America. It belongs in the family Lycaenidae.

Callophrys gryneus is resident in several non-contiguous populations across the United States and into southwestern Canada (Scott 1986). Habitats are lower Austral/upper Sonoran to Hudsonian zone dry or rocky open areas wherever juniper-like trees occur. Host plants are several genera of tree Cupressacea and Pinacea. Eggs are laid on the host plant singly on foliage tips and blooming twigs. Larvae eat foliage tips. Individuals overwinter as pupae. There are variable number of flights based on latitude with two flights of approximate times late Apr- early Jun and late June - early Aug in the northeast and mid-west; several flights late Mar-early June and July15-Sept30 in southeast US; one flight May15-June30 in most of the west; one flight Apr1-May30 on most of Pacific coast (Scott 1986). Scott (1986) recognizes many subspecies.
