North american ecology (us and canada) 8

Satyrium favonius is a resident of the eastern Untied States, with three isolated populations in the southwestern US (Scott 1986). Habitats are oak woodland. Host plants are trees restricted to several species within one genus, Quercus (Fagaceae). Eggs are laid on twigs of the host plant, singly. Individuals overwinter as eggs. There is one flight each year with the approximate flight time May1-June 30 in the northern part of the range and Mar15-early May in the most southern part of their range (Scott 1986). Scott 1986 considers this species synonymous with Fixsenia favonius
