The Gorgone Checkerspot (Chlosyne gorgone) is a species of Nymphalinae that occurs in North America.

Chlosyne gorgone is resident to central North America from southern Alberta and Manitoba south to Texas and east to Georgia, with several separate populations to the west and east (Scott 1986). Habitats are Great Plains open areas. Host plants are herbaceous or shrub-like, of several species restricted to one family, Compositae. Eggs are laid on the host plant in clusters. Individuals overwinter as third instar larvae, in a special skin. There are a variable number of flights each year depending on latitude with one flight in the northern and high altitude part of the range, between May 15 and early July, two flights in North Dakota and Wisconsin between June 1-Aug.31, and multiple flights from late Apr. to Sept. 15 in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).
