Non-Migrant: Yes. At least some populations of this species do not make significant seasonal migrations. Juvenile dispersal is not considered a migration.
Locally Migrant: Yes. At least some populations of this species make local extended movements (generally less than 200 km) at particular times of the year (e.g., to breeding or wintering grounds, to hibernation sites).
Locally Migrant: Yes. At least some populations of this species make annual migrations of over 200 km.
Long-distance migrant in the U.S. and Canada. Breeding populations from the lowlands and central interior of Mexico southward are generally sedentary (AOU 1983), though they may make local elevational migrations to coastal areas in winter. Usually migrates in small flocks; arrives in U.S. March-April. Migrates in Costa Rica early September-late October and early March-early May (Stiles and Skutch 1989).
