The Butterfly Bat (Glauconycteris variegata) is a species of vesper bat in the Vespertilionidae family. It is found in Angola, Benin, Botswana, Cameroon, Chad, Cuba, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, Somalia, South Africa, Sudan, Swaziland, Tanzania, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Its natural habitats are dry savanna, moist savanna, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland. It is threatened by habitat loss.
