The shells of adult Tetraclita rubescens are reddish in color and are externally thatched. The shells of young and uneroded Tetraclita rubescens are white in color.
Size

Their diameter is usually up to 30 mm, and they rarely get to 50 mm. (Newman and Abbott 1980)
