The Prickly Pear is paddle shaped cactus. Its paddles grows from 4 in. to 18 in. in length and up to 9 in. in width. The cactus can grow up to 7 ft. tall. Long thorns also protrude from the paddles. The cactus has flowers that are purple, yellow, or red which bloom in early spring to summer. It also has edible fruit

The Prickly Pear most commonly found in sunny desert climates.

The Prickly Pear has medicinal uses and its paddles and fruits are edible.
