"Culm solitary, to 45 cm, 3-quetrous, ribbed, base incrassate. Leaves as long as culm, or shorter, to 0.25 cm wide, acute, nerves prominent. Inflorescence compound, open, to 6 cm; involucral rays 3, overtopping, the longest to 20 cm; primary rays 3-5. Spikelets 2-10, spicate or racemose, at right angles to rachis. Spikelets narrow-oblong, to 1.5 x 0.1 cm, yellow, compressed, 10-15-flowered; rachilla persistent, wing to 0.1 cm. Glumes imbricate, ovate, 0.25 cm, mucronulate, sides 4-6-nerved, margin hyaline; keel 3-nerved. Stamens 3. Nut ellipsoid, 3-quetrous, 0.1 cm, apiculate, stalked."
