Habitat and Range 2

Found in Massachusetts, Connecticut, North Carolina, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, New York, Minnesota, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
Can be grown practically anywhere, but thrive best in coves and forests, and needs a moderate amount of sunlight. Native to the United States.

Seasonality 2

The tree begins producing flowers in early June. Its nuts ripen in September. It drops leaves in the fall. Most trees begin producing at 28 years old, and by that time they are 48 inches, and continue to grow.

Importance 2

Walnut wood is used for furniture, interior paneling, and gunstocks. the walnut serves as food for humans and wildlife. Ground walnut shells are used to safely clean airplane pistons and jet engines, as filler for dynamite, and as a non slip agent in car tires. We’d be missing a pretty wood type. And it'd be much more dangerous to clean jet engines. Many animals would be missing a food source and a good bit of forest would be gone.
