Distribution 1

Global Range: (20,000-2,500,000 square km (about 8000-1,000,000 square miles)) Revision of range was made by Taylor (2000) where he defined the range as being disjunct with populations in the middle and upper Green River system and middle and upper Cumberland River system in Kentucky and Tennessee, in the western Highland Rim of the Tennessee River system of western Tennessee and northern Alabama.

Justification
Orconectes putnami has been assessed as Least Concern (LC) due to its wide range (equating to an EOO of more than 58,000 km2)and high abundance in suitable habitat. It is unlikely that this species is being adversely affected by any threats.

Nature serve conservation status 4

Rounded Global Status Rank: G5 - Secure

Reasons: Revision of range was made by Taylor (2000) where he determined a disjunct distribution with populations occurring in central Kentucky and northern Tennessee, and in southcentral Tennessee and northern Alabama. It is unlikely that this species is being adversely affected by any threats.

Intrinsic Vulnerability: Not intrinsically vulnerable

Environmental Specificity: Broad. Generalist or community with all key requirements common.

Range description 5

This species is found in the Ohio drainage system in western Kentucky, USA. Its distribution also extends to southern Tennessee and northern Alabama (Taylor 2000).The Extent of Occurrence (EOO) of this species has been estimated to exceed58,000 km2.
