The Common Checkered Skipper (wingspan 19 - 38 mm) can be found in most of America from Southern Canada to Northwest South America in a wide variety of habitats. Caterpillars feed on plants in the mallow family. In the North, adults fly from March to September feeding on nectar from white-flowered composites.
