The Common Alpine (wingspan 35 - 51 mm) can be found in the Rocky Mountains and coastal ranges from central Alaska to New Mexico. Common Alpines prefer a wide variety of habitats including mountain meadows, bogs, forest clearings and alpine tundra, often near stands of aspen. They appear farther south and at lower altitudes than other arctic species. Adults fly from mid-June to early August.
