Uhler’s Arctic butterflies are native to a split range from Central Alberta south through the Rocky Mountains to northern New Mexico, east across the great plains to Western Minnesota, as well as Northeast Alaska, Yukon and Northwest Territories. Preferred habitats include slopes with dry bunch grass, tundra, and openings in pine forests. Adults, with a wingspan of 38 - 56 mm, take flight in June and July. Caterpillars feed on grasses and sedges.
