Summary ²

This large Fritillary (wingspan 60 - 86 mm) ranges from southern Alberta / southwest Manitoba to western Nebraska / northern New Mexico. Favored habitat includes open pine forests and grasslands. Caterpillars feed on violets. Adults fly from June to September.
