The Hydaspe Fritillary, among the smaller of the Speyeria genus with a wingspan of 41 - 51 mm, is native to the western portions of the United States and Canada. Adults can be found gathering flower nectar in moist forests, clearings and sub-alpine meadows, from July through September. Larvae feed on violets.
