Gillett’s Checkerspot (wingspan 35 - 48 mm) is a local species in the Rocky Mountains of southern Alberta, central Idaho, Montana, and western Wyoming. It prefers clearings in lodge pole pine forests and mountain meadows. Caterpillars rely on plants of the honeysuckle family. Adults fly slowly near the ground and rest on conifers from June through August.
