Summary 2

The only Parnassian (wingspan 50 - 76 mm) with a range restricted to North America, the Clodius Parnassian ranges over the western mountains. It prefers forest edges in the Northwest and cool mountains and shaded canyons elsewhere. The caterpillar host includes species in the fumariaceae family (bleeding heart). Adults fly from June through July.
